Questions, Questions, Questions. I've got a few answers.

What is the PCT?

The Pacific Crest Trail is a long distance hiking and equestrian trail the spans the length of the United States from Mexico to Canada. It goes through some of the highest portions of the Sierra Nevada and Cascade Mountain Ranges. It also lies 100 to 150 miles east of the West Coast. Not to be confused with Pacific Coast Trail.

How long did it take you?

140 days or 4.5 months.

Do you stay in a hotel every night?

There are a variety of places to sleep on the trail from established car camping sites to very primitive semi flat spots on the trial. And yes, in towns there are usually hotels. But generally, I am staying in a tent that I carried with me the entire way. Lets just say, I am on the quest to find the perfect TheraRock (patent pending).

Are you just surviving off the land?

Not like you would imagine. Around every hundred miles, I sent myself a resupply of food so I don't have to carry 4.5 months worth of food on my back. It makes it easier this way. However, many times there are berries and a few animals I've had to eat when on trial that is sometimes too hard to pass up! I love blueberries!

What kind of gun do you carry?

I don't. Since I'm not surviving off the land there is no need for me to carry a firearm. Plus, I would have to carry it and those things are way too heavy.

Aren't you afraid of bears out there? What did you do when you saw them?

All the bears I saw out there were just as surprised to see me as I was them! We both turned around and ran/walked the other way! Plus, it was nice talking to them saying, "Hey Bear! Get out of here! I am walking through your home right now!"

Where did you start?

I started in Campo, California and ended in Manning Park, BC. I did make sure to run over and touch the wall before walking north though.

How many miles did you hike each day?

Over 140 days I averaged 17 miles per day. This included zeros and neros.

Do you ever shower on the trail?

Never on the trail but when we came into towns we would always search out a shower and a great place to eat! Plus, there were a ton of lakes and rivers in between Mexico and Canada.

Where do you go to the bathroom?

The world is my toilet! Every person must carry their own device to dig a hole in the ground to go to the bathroom. We all live by LNT practices and must dig a hold 6 to 8 inches deep into the ground and 200 feet away from water so we can all keep hiking in a nice enviroment.

What kind of maps do you carry?

Originally, I had hard maps and a compass for the Sierra but my resupply didn't show up at Kennedy Meadows South so I relied on Guthooks on my phone. But, one of my teammates had hard maps which made me feel 100X better. (Thanks Wasabi!).

Are you going to hike the Continental Divide Trail (CDT)?

I was told when I was just outside of Damascus, Va when I was hiking the AT that you either do 1 or 3. Since I am on my second one it looks like I will be doing it someday.😆I am stoked for it when it happens.

Did you do this because you read the book Wild

Nope. Never read the book and I also haven't seen the entire movie.

Any other questions that you may have or you think I forgot? Ask away!
